***NEW LOCATION*** Meet us at Adanne Bookshop!
Have you ever been curious about textile design? Here's a start!
Kicking off our Juneteenth programming we're hanging out in the park and learning the foundations of weaving with Textile dsgnr, Maya Davis! Join us this Sunday, June 12th @ 1:00pm to construct your own hand loom, learn basic weaving techniques, and foundations of textile design!
This workshop was created with design accessibility in mind, in celebration of our continued collective growth, we invite members of the Afro diaspora to bring a blanket and join us as we learn looming! (we hear it's therapeutic too)
Maya Davis is an interdisciplinary artist from Rochester, NY. She attended the Fashion Institute of technology for Textile/ Surface Design and spent a few years in corporate as a designer. After noticing
how much usable product was being discarded in her industry, she decided to start creating art again.
From this desire to create and a lot of recycled goods, Udeen Designs began. Maya focuses on fiber arts and pointillism work as well as mixed media.
dsgnrswrkshp (pronounced designer's workshop) is a community based collective empowering Black makers and community within all scales of the built environment through connectivity, culture, collaboration, healing, and education.
